Question formation & interrogatives
The rule, in plain English
Yes/no questions use the same words as statements plus rising intonation and ¿?: '¿Hablas español?'. Question words carry a written accent: qué, quién, cuándo, dónde, cómo, cuál, cuánto. Use qué for definitions/nouns, cuál for choosing among options.
Why it's hard for English speakers
English adds 'do/does' to make questions; Spanish doesn't. And 'what' splits into qué vs cuál depending on choice.
