About
A practice partner for English speakers learning Spanish
Who this is for
Spanish Revision Partner is built for native English speakers who are learning Spanish — especially anyone preparing for the DELE A1 or A2 exam — but doesn't have a Spanish-speaking friend, family member, or tutor to practise with. Textbooks teach you the grammar; what's hard to find is somewhere to use it: to be asked questions, make mistakes, and try again. That gap is what this site fills, free, in your browser.
What's inside
- Syllabus — the full A2 programme (units 1–10 across A2.1–A2.3), so you always know what to study next.
- Grammar — plain-English explanations of the grammar that trips up English speakers: ser vs estar, the past tenses, gustar, the subjunctive — with exercises on every topic.
- Practice — 680+ vocabulary flashcards mixing single words and real conversational phrases, a 200-question grammar quiz, and a reusable phrase bank, all filterable by unit.
- Everyday — a daily dose of the highest-frequency Spanish words and situational phrases, the vocabulary you'll actually hear.
- World — how Spanish changes across 21 countries: word duels, false friends, slang, and accents.
- Conversation — an AI practice partner that role-plays 60 everyday scenarios (café, doctor, job interview…) and gives feedback on your Spanish. This is the "Spanish friend" part.
- Exam — DELE-style writing, speaking, reading, and listening tasks with AI grading against real assessment criteria.
A weekly routine that works
- Pick your current unit on the Syllabus tab and skim its goals (5 min).
- Drill that unit's flashcards and quiz on the Practice tab, a little every day (10 min/day).
- Read one Grammar topic and do its exercises (15 min, twice a week).
- Check the Everyday tab with your morning coffee — new words daily (5 min).
- Once a week, hold a Conversation role-play and attempt one Exam task — speaking aloud, even alone, is what makes it stick.
What are DELE A1 and A2?
The DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera) is the official Spanish qualification issued by Spain's Instituto Cervantes. Its levels follow the European CEFR scale: A1 certifies you can handle basic everyday interactions — introducing yourself, ordering food, asking directions — while A2 adds routine conversation about your life, past events, and plans. They are the two most popular starting points for adult learners, and the content here tracks an A2 course syllabus unit by unit, with the A1 foundations included.
Free vs sign-in
Everything on this site is free. The content sections work with no account at all. The two AI-powered sections — Conversation and Exam grading — require a Google sign-in purely so that per-person daily limits can keep the AI costs sustainable.
Frequently asked questions
- Is it really free?
- Yes. The syllabus browser, grammar hub, flashcards, quizzes, Everyday Spanish trainer, and regional-Spanish trivia are free and need no account. Only the AI conversation partner and AI exam grading ask you to sign in with Google, so usage can be fairly limited per person.
- Which Spanish does the site teach — Spain or Latin America?
- The core content uses peninsular (Spain) Spanish, matching the DELE exam's origin, but Latin American variants are flagged wherever they matter, and the World tab is dedicated to how Spanish differs across 21 countries.
- Do I need to know any Spanish to start?
- No. The deck includes A1 foundations — greetings, numbers, days, family, food — and builds to A2. If you already know the basics, jump straight to the unit you're studying.
- How is AI used?
- Two sections use a language model: the Conversation tab plays a Spanish-speaking practice partner, and the Exam tab grades your written and spoken answers against DELE-style criteria. Everything else is hand-authored content that works offline-first.
- Where is my progress stored?
- Study progress (cards seen, quiz score) is stored in your own browser's local storage. It never leaves your device and there is nothing to delete on a server.
